Health Care Professionals

You know it’s very helpful when people with diabetes are actively engaged in their care plan. While the medications you prescribe are key to improving diabetes outcomes, lifestyle changes are critical.

That is why you spend time encouraging your patients to be physical active, eat healthy and maintain a healthy weight. However, barriers to being physically active exist. Many people don’t know how to get started or lack the confidence to try.

When you refer your patients to Dedham Health & Athletic Complex $60 for 60 days Program, they will have the staff supervision and the facilities they need to tackle these barriers in a safe and comfortable setting.

Dedham Health & Athletic Complex understands how to be part of your diabetes team. We have helped thousands of people learn to LIVE WELL with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Dedham Health & Athletic Complex can also help you reach your ABC Quality Measures. Here is what you can expect to see:

A1c – Structured exercise training has been associated with HbA1c reductions of 0.67% in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Blood Pressure – Aerobic exercise results in an average reduction of 5 – 7 mm Hg in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. For patients with hypertension that do not respond to drugs, an average reduction in blood pressure of 7.4/5.8 mm Hg can be expected.

Cholesterol – Aerobic activity reduces LDL-cholesterol by 3–6 mg/dL and non–HDL cholesterol by 6 mg/dL. Resistance training reduces LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, and non–HDL cholesterol by 6–9 mg/dL.

These outcomes are independent of weight loss. Greater improvements can be expected when modest weight loss also occurs.
